Beaird

Beaird, Beard, Bard!  Couldn't those pesky census takers get the name right!?  Will the real Beairds please stand up and wave your hands.  And why not more information-didn't you know we'd be looking for you someday!?  My paternal side of the family are Beairds.  John James (or maybe just James) appears in Christian Co.  Kentucky in the mid 1870s working on a tobacco farm. Numerous census records and a marriage record indicate he was born around 1850 in Virginia. But that's it. Nada. No amount of search has uncovered anything else. No parent names. Oh there are Beairds, Beards, Bards in Virginia--but not a John James born round 1850.  The name ring a bell?  We need to talk then. John James married Molly Chapman just over the state line in Tennessee where she lived.  We can find her line back to Georgia.  They married, and raised a family until mid 1880s.  But that is a mystery for another post.
